lasauvage Mural
Hidden in the wooded valleys of southern Luxembourg, the village of Lasauvage carries a fascinating heritage of myths, mysteries, and industrial history. At its heart lies the legend of La Femme Sauvage, a mysterious, witch-like woman said to have haunted the surrounding forests, inspiring both fear and fascination. This haunting folklore, intertwined with the memories of generations of miners and their families, became the inspiration for an immersive artistic intervention spanning 58 square metres.
Created in collaboration with architect Anouck Pesch, the project forms part of the Minett Trail, an initiative developed for Esch2022, European Capital of Culture. Eleven distinctive guesthouses, known as Kabaisercher, were conceived along the trail, giving new life to buildings and places connected to the region's cultural and industrial heritage.

Rindschleiden Mural

Deep in the forests of Luxembourg, a mysterious legend finds new life through a monumental ceramic fresco. Inspired by the local tale of the Schankemännchen, a towering, skeletal hunter who roams the woods accompanied by enormous hounds, this six-square-metre installation reinterprets the original folklore through sculpture, symbolism, and architectural storytelling.
Commissioned by architect Anouck Pesch for a guesthouse in Rindschleiden, in the municipality of Wahl, the artwork transforms an existing wall niche into the hunter's mythical cave. Three life-size, wolf-like hounds emerge from the composition, while a symbolic river marks the boundary between danger and safety within the haunting narrative.
Entirely handcrafted at Lea Schroeder Studio, the fresco celebrates the raw beauty of natural clay. Its earthy tones are preserved without coloured glazes, enhanced only by a transparent glossy finish that reveals the material's authentic character. Conceived as an intricate three-dimensional puzzle, each sculpted element was individually shaped, fired, and assembled on-site into a monumental architectural composition.
More than a decorative artwork, the installation invites guests to step into the region's collective imagination, transforming a traditional tale into an immersive encounter with Luxembourg's living cultural heritage.
